The Day to Day Struggle - What works!!

Everyday you are probably told about so many people who have lost a lot of weight with x program and you want to know what they are doing that you are not.  Too many times, you have the old starts and stops, you workout, then you stop.  You diet, then you stop.  Maybe life throws you a loop and you forget about taking care of your most important asset, your body.  I offer these tips to consider when you are in the day to day struggle

1) Water - Carry water with you at all times, too many times we reach for that soda or what is available to eat.  You may not be so much hungry just thirsty.  Every health study I have ever seen, they always talk about drinking water. Try it.
2) Sleeping - This is the one I really struggle with.  You probably hear that 8 hours a night is strongly recommended.  I wish I could do this but I find that the more that I get closer to the 8 hours the better I feel.

3) Communicating with your spouse and kids - I know this one is out in left field but the more I communicate about how good or bad I feel about my day the better my workouts become.  I really become less stressed when my family knows about my day and how I am feeling about things. Sometimes I need their help and sometimes I need them to go away.  The less that is on my mind, the more Ii can focus on my workouts and my body.

4) Bad Days -There are days that I don't want to workout.  I may have worked 12 hours a day or traveled all day and my body is telling me not to push play.  some days you have to respect what your body is telling you.  There are bad days but do not make it a trend.  If you have more than 2 bad days, that is a trend. don't fall into a trend
5) Accountability - Every day you should take stock in the following  "Did I do something to invest in my most important investment, my body.  Did I walk, run, sit ups, what did Ii do?
6) Stretching or Yoga - I never really liked yoga or stretching in the past but lately I have felt awesome after doing it, Test it out.
7) Positive Thinking - I know this sounds very basic but being positive, laughing and just looking on the bright side of life allows you to get through the day.  My motto.  Everyone you know will be dead 75 years from now so keep it real and don't let the little stuff bother you.
8) Challenge yourself - Being mediocre, is no way to live. Strive to be better in everything you do.  Today was bad, make tommorrow 5 times better.
